 1.  Focus on  VA adding activities.  VA create wealth.   All others are wastes  NVA   are waste -  MUDA

      Activities, processes should be focused on customer wants and needs   

      Waste is summarized as TIMWOOD

      T -   ransport

      I -   ventory

      M - otion

      W - aiting

      O -  verprocessing

       O - verproduction

       D-  elay

2.  Some activities are needed to conform to regulations and record keeping

3. For instance in fixing flats, raising the vehicle removing the tires are non essential.  The only VA is patching the hole and reinflating the tires.  So some vulcanizing shops have resorted to:

           1.  Non removal of whole tires from the vehicles but just removal of the inner tube and vulcanizing

                the same

          2.  For tubeless tires,  they just inject sealant and the rubber plug without removal of the entire wheel.
